This past March, The Free Nashville Poetry Library hosted an event called "Poem Eat Song" and asked me to read some lyrics and poetry. This event prompted me to think about how speaking my song lyrics can feel like a form of dissection or deconstruction of the song as I’ve come to know it. I became excited about the possibility of jumping inside of the songs and deconstructing the music, too. I had a lot of fun taking a hammer to recordings of these songs ("Solar Eclipse '17" and "Resurrection City") and manipulating them to create a new sense of time or place, as well as building soundbeds from field recordings that I compulsively take on my phone. I chose two poems ("Milkmemo" and "Hatching") to create similar soundscapes for, too. It was a lot of fun, and I liked it so much that I've decided to release the tracks here!
